Southwest Section Helps Raise the Roof

The Ninety-Nines Oklahoma City International headquarters and the Ninety-Nines Museum of Women Pilots have a defective, leaking roof.  International President Pat Prentiss has been supervising the roof repair contract negotiations.  The roof repair project will cost $100,000, including $84,500 for construction and the remainder for architect fees and other fees associated with the replacement.

International has raised approximately 60% of the money need to repair the roof through generous member bequests and donations. Construction has begun and Pat Prentiss has asked all Ninety-Nine Sections to help raise the additional $40,000 needed to finish the job.
At the fall 2007 Southwest Section meeting in San Francisco, the Ventura County 99s issued a “2-for-1 Roof Challenge.”  They have pledged to donate up to $20,000 in matching funds for fixing the roof.  For a period ending at the 2008 fall section meeting, the VC99s will match dollar for dollar up to a maximum of $20,000, each dollar donated by other Southwest section chapters for the roof repair fund.  This means if a 99 Southwest section chapter or member donates $500, the Ventura County chapter will donate $500.
