Charter Date: 1969, sponsored by Monterey Chapter.
San Luis Obispo County Ninety-Nines fly
over some of the most glorious country in the world - from the almond
country of Paso Robles to the famous Pismo Beach sand dunes.
We actually grew from Thursday morning coffee-klatch fly-outs and some
of us were chapter members of Santa Barbara and Monterey. One day we discovered
that enough licensed pilots could be mustered to form a group and in 1969
our northern sisters in Monterey winged their way to our lovely valley
to charter us.
We are a small chapter and boast two airline captains, a WASP, and several
CFIIs.
We also sponsor The San Luis Obispo (SLO) Derby. This air race is held
every October to coincide with Halloween. 1998 is the fourth annual air
race.
