Charter Date: December 1, 1949
Arizona women pilots received help in their
plans to form a chapter in 1949 when nine memers of the San Diego chapter
flew to Phoenix, met for dinner at the home of Marjorie Crowl, and held
a meeting.
The charter lists the name "Arizona Chapter," but two years
later when other areas of the state began organizing, the name was changed
to Saguaro Chapter (Sah-Warh-o). Then in 1955, to avoid confusion in pronunciation
and location, the name was changed to the Phoenix Chapter.
